The entire iCare team is excited to celebrate National Nursing Home Week, this week May 13-19th. According to the American Health Care Association (AHCA) website, AHCA established the weeklong celebration in 1967, always beginning on Mother’s Day. NNHW provides an opportunity for residents and their loved ones, staff, volunteers, and surrounding communities to recognize the role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities.

The Touchpoints at Manchester team bid farewell to Peter, a resident from its Veteran program, as he discharged into the community. He was Touchpoints at Manchester’s first veteran admission under the VA contract and spoke about how the staff changed him to a more positive person and gave him the strength and motivation to rehab, discharge and move to a new home. The Touchpoints at Manchester crew surprised Cristina Lazure, Unit Manager, on her last day at the facility. Cristina, who is a seasoned unit manager and recently obtained her RN license, will be the new Director of Nursing for Touchpoints at Chestnut. The Manchester staff proudly wore t-shirts emblazoned with “Team Cristina” and adopted #teamCristina.
