iCare’s Billy Boyce and Sarah Landi presented at Saint Francis Hospital’s “Share the Care: Transition from Acute to Post Acute Care” educational conference on December 1st. The day long series, held at Saint Francis’ Connecticut Institute for Primary Care Innovation in Hartford, focused on the management of high risk patients, with emphasis on heart failure, COPD and sepsis.

iCare Management is a very Christmas-centric company, filled to the brim with holiday spirit and celebrating the season through many gatherings, parties and time spent reflecting and being thankful. On December 1st, Administrators from iCare’s ten managed facilities submitted pictures of their respective lobby, all done up for the Christmas and holiday season. iCare held a clinical skills training session for a team of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), reviewing such skills and techniques as managing and assisting with the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), patient lifting and moving, assessment of vital signs, patient bathing and hygiene and much more.

Fresh River Healthcare in East Windsor, CT began utilizing a medication named AUSTEDO (Deutetrabenazine) in the treatment of patients with Huntington’s Disease; the first nursing home in Connecticut, and one of an estimated 15 in the country, to do so. Huntington’s disease (HD) is a neurological, hereditary disease with physical, emotional, behavioral and cognitive effects that are disruptive to all parts of everyday activities.
