Heart failure is essentially a weakness of the heart muscle and is most commonly known as congestive heart failure (CHF). There are many steps to managing CHF for you or a loved one. It is a chronic disease process that requires constant attention and management but a good quality of life is within reach. Many great programs exist and healthcare providers are paying more attention to this disease process than ever.

iCare held a clinical skills training session for a team of RNs and LPNs at the Keeney Center in Wethersfield on January 28th. Skills and techniques reviewed by the instructors included managing non-invasive ventilators, CAD pump systems, mechanical ventilation in emergencies and more.

NBC Connecticut shot a commercial for iCare and Touchpoints Rehab to air in the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. It featured the very photogenic staff and residents of Touchpoints at Farmington, shot in the dining room, rehab gym, lobby, spa and resident rooms. Narration and framing came from Touchpoints at Bloomfield’s talented Director of Nursing, Shanta Griffiths. Keep an eye out for the commercial to roll when the Olympics kick off on February 9th on NBC.

When I arrived at Touchpoints, I was in pretty bad shape. I needed help with everything because I was weak and easily out of breath. But in a short time, due to all the great care from Rehab, Nursing and the onsite Respiratory Therapist, I gained strength and most importantly the confidence to do more and more each day.
