NBC Connecticut shot a commercial for iCare and Touchpoints Rehab to air in the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. It featured the very photogenic staff and residents of Touchpoints at Farmington, shot in the dining room, rehab gym, lobby, spa and resident rooms. Narration and framing came from Touchpoints at Bloomfield’s talented Director of Nursing, Shanta Griffiths. Keep an eye out for the commercial to roll when the Olympics kick off on February 9th on NBC.

When I arrived at Touchpoints, I was in pretty bad shape. I needed help with everything because I was weak and easily out of breath. But in a short time, due to all the great care from Rehab, Nursing and the onsite Respiratory Therapist, I gained strength and most importantly the confidence to do more and more each day.

It’s been a very busy holiday season at Touchpoints at Bloomfield.  We were busy decorating their home, having our first annual ugly sweater party and best holiday cookie bake off, receiving many gifts from the community and volunteers caroling through out the facility.  Now that we have started a new year, have you noticed when you turn on the television or read a magazine it’s all about exercise and making healthy choices for 2018…

The number of older adults in the United States is growing, and falls among the older adult population are a serious and significant problem. Approximately 33 percent of older adults 65 years of age and older fall at least once each year. Injuries caused from a fall are a predisposing factor in 40 percent of the events leading to long-term nursing home placement among older adults.
