Fresh River Healthcare in East Windsor, CT began utilizing a medication named AUSTEDO (Deutetrabenazine) in the treatment of patients with Huntington’s Disease; the first nursing home in Connecticut, and one of an estimated 15 in the country, to do so. Huntington’s disease (HD) is a neurological, hereditary disease with physical, emotional, behavioral and cognitive effects that are disruptive to all parts of everyday activities.

This Fall, Fresh River’s Food Service Director Janine Lancaster, was at it again, serving new and seasonal table-side creations to residents at the Fresh River bistro. Check out the Oktoberfest and other menus…

NEWS ALERT - Fresh River Healthcare in East Windsor, CT was named a 2017-18 Best Nursing Home by US News and World Report. According to U.S. News officials, each facility was assigned a rating ranging from 1.0 to 5.0, using their own analysis of data posted by the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Fresh River earned a rating of 5.  Only 15% of the facilities that U.S. News rated achieved “Top Performing” status by earning a rating of at least 4.5.

Fresh River has found a talented Food Service Director in Janine Lancaster who is committed to bringing distinctive, enjoyable and high quality food to all of Fresh River’s residents. Recently, the facility has started offering residents a different way to enjoy their meals.
