Silver Springs Care Center in Meriden has announced that they will be recognized with a 2018 Silver - Commitment to Quality Award by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). Silver Springs is the only skilled nursing care center in Connecticut to received the award in 2018. The notification comes after the 2018 AHCA/NCAL awards ceremony and as such Silver Springs will be honored at the 2019 Annual Convention and Expo in Orlando, FL. 

Regina Estrada, a Licensed Practical Nurse at Silver Springs Care Center has been recognized by the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners as the 2018 Certified Dementia Practitioner of the Year for her work in the field of dementia care. The award recognizes the impact that the recipient has in dementia care and their ability to motivate their colleagues to set higher care goals with patient care. 

The team at Silver Springs Care Center honored Veteran’s Day by highlighting the military service of many of its residents and staff who had served. Silver Springs is a VA-contract skilled nursing care center and thus regularly care for those who have served our country.  More pictures in the post. 

Bruce, a United States Marine Corps Veteran, sustained a left humeral fracture followed by a fall causing a right ankle fracture and required surgery and casting.  He was admitted to Silver Springs’ Veteran’s Program. Within a few days his pain was well-managed, his dietary needs were met, and he fully participated in all therapeutic activities. “The care I received was outstanding all the time, from nursing to therapies; accelerating my healing process” says Bruce.

Silver Springs Care Center on Roy Street in Meriden recently celebrated receiving a Five Star CMS Rating. An iCare managed, 159 bed facility, Silver Springs specializes in memory care, behavioral health, Veteran’s care, short term rehab and substance use disorder treatment through the iRecovery program. The coveted Five Star overall rating was accompanied by a Five Star quality measures rating.
